The Riksbank raises its policy rate ("styrränta") to 2.00%. A matching mortgage rate rise would add SEK 625 a month on a SEK 3,000,000 loan.

The Executive Board raises Sweden's policy rate ("styrränta") to 2.00% on 4 November 2026. Your mortgage rate does not automatically rise by the same amount. The increase is 0.25 percentage points, from 1.75%, and takes effect on 11 November 2026.

The rate path

The Riksbank expects further increases over the coming year if the inflation and economic outlook holds, in line with its September 2026 rate path ("räntebana"). It expects stronger economic activity and costs from supply disruptions to push inflation higher. The update contains no new forecasts.

Variable rates

Variable mortgage rates (three months) follow banks' short-term funding costs, which follow the policy rate. Each bank decides whether and when to change its list rate ("listränta"). This is its published rate, and many borrowers receive a discount. The list rates Bolån Radar tracks appear in our comparison of current mortgage rates.

Fixed rates

Fixed mortgage rates follow market rates for the chosen fixed-rate period ("bindningstid"). Those rates reflect what the market expects the policy rate to be over that period. Fixed rates can therefore move before an announcement and do not have to change on the day the Riksbank announces its decision.

Worked example

On a loan of SEK 3,000,000, these are monthly interest amounts before the interest deduction ("ränteavdrag"), excluding amortisation ("amortering"). At the 3.09% list rate from Avanza and Landshypotek Bank, interest is SEK 7,725. If the mortgage rate rises by the same 0.25 percentage points as the policy rate, monthly interest increases by SEK 625.
